Our Coral Essentials Coral Power Iodine is a concentrated blend of Potassium Iodide 10,000 ppm (1%) for marine aquariums. It is essential for the healthy growth of hard and soft corals and for the promotion of healthy macroalgae growth. Iodine is also used to enhance the blue coloring in corals. Iodine is an essential element for proper cell function and the transfer of nutrients within cells. Iodine is used by corals for the synthesis of pigments, which allows them to adapt to different light conditions and provide their tissues with protection from UV radiation. Invertebrates with exoskeletons (shrimp, crab, etc.) require iodine for exoskeleton formation as they grow. To ensure healthy corals, invertebrates and macroalgae, maintain a dosing plan as detailed below. Variations above and below the recommended dosage can be made based on the conditions of the aquarium and the density of the coral present.
Dosage: we recommend starting to dose 1 drop / day for every 100 liters of water. Do not apply a dose greater than 2 drops / day for every 100 l of water in a manual dosing system.
For the advanced aquarist 0.1 ml (2 drops) the iodine levels are increased by 0.01 ppm (mg / L) for every 100 l of water. If you know the rate of iodine depletion, dose accordingly.
